North Bergen, NJ - One of the best cruiserweights fighters in the world will make his United States debut this Friday at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ.
Marco Huck (38-2-1, 26KO’s) has long been a popular staple in Germany, and now he comes stateside when he takes on Krzysztof Glowacki (24-0, 15 KO’s) from Poland. Though not an Al Haymon fighter, Huck will be fighting as the co-feature of a Premier Boxing Champions on Spike TV card. It’s possible we see Huck on more PBC cards in the future.
“Al Haymon and PBC are doing pretty well,” Huck told BoxingScene.com. “At the moment, it’s just a co-promotion but we’ll see what the future holds after this.”
Huck has been mentioned as a potential Roy Jones Jr. foe in the upcoming future. Huck would be honored to share a ring with one of his idols - even if he has to beat his face in.
“No it’s not a joke,” Huck said when asked about the seriousness of a fight with Roy Jones, Jr. “Roy Jones is a legend. I used to watch Roy’s fight as a kid but when he first mentioned my name I didn’t really know what to feel and I wouldn’t know how to feel about smacking him in the face either but we’ll see what happens.”
Huck also doesn’t rule out a move back to the heavyweight division
“After the (Alexander) Povetkin fight, I wanted to stay in the heavyweight division. My former promoter didn’t make that happen. When I go back up to heavyweight I want to fight the best. I’ve been mentioning Klitschko for a couple of years. Maybe if they are not available I’ll go after Deontay Wilder. But soon it will sleepy time for everyone. Roy Jones [will get] sleepy Time, Deontay Wilder [will get] sleepy time.”
And as far as his opponent, he’s not too concerned that he’s undefeated and will likely have the contingent of Polish people from New Jersey rooting for him
“I haven’t concerned myself with him [or what] he has. He knows my strengths. I know my strengths and he will feel my strengths come Friday night. He fought some decent guys but he no one as good as me. I take him seriously, I take all my opponents seriously. It’s respectful to take your opponent seriously. He’s in the top 15 and is the mandatory challenger. So obviously I have to take him seriously. He deserves my respect.”
