Marco Huck (34-2-1, 25KOs) has told WBN that his next fight is likely to take place in October as the cruiserweight champion comes back from a disappointing draw with Ola Afolabi in May and will be hoping to secure his first victory for a year.
The 27 year-old ended 2011 with an easy knockout victory over Argentinian Rogelio Rossi in Ludwigsburg, before a failed world heavyweight title challenge against Alexander Povetkin and the draw with old foe Afolabi.
The solid German will now set to make another defence of his WBO 200lb title and will then look to entice former cruiserweight king-turned heavyweight titleholder David 'Hayemaker' Haye into a 2013 battle.
“My next fight will be probably in October,” Huck told World Boxing News.
“I know the fight won’t be against Afolabi as I have already won twice against him. I don't think it makes sense to beat him for the third time.
“I hope to move back up to heavyweight at some point, but my promoter has to decide when and who that will be against.
“I would like to fight against Haye as he is very strong boxer and It would be a challenge for me.”
Asked whether he would be willing to give former undisputed world champion Roy Jones Jr. as shot at his world title, Huck replied:
“It wouldn't be a challenge to fight against Roy Jones Jr. anymore. Unfortunately, he is too old now and not in his best condition. His glory days are gone, but he used to be a very good boxer.”
