In the recent news, flamboyant Russian promoter Vladimir Hryunov saw his promotional license revoked by the sanctioning body which issued it – the Professional Boxing Federation of Russia. There was no consensus regarding the nature of the ban, some pointing at unidentified violations of RUSADA (Russian Anti-Doping Agency) Rules and Regulations, and some proclaiming a somewhat rocky relationship between Hryunov and his former partner Andrey Ryabinskiy, the powerful owner of “World of Boxing” brand and also the vice-president of the PBFR.
It looks like this ban was short-lived – according to Hryunov, who confirmed that his license will be re-issued in a short time span.
“(The) License will be reclaimed. I have already reconciled with Andrey Ryabinskiy. I won’t comment anymore on this issue”, said Hryunov to Izvestia. “The license will be reclaimed immediately after I come back to Russia. There are people, many of them, who are interested in the inflation of a conflict with Andrey. No one has succeeded with that. I’m in constant contact with Mr. Ryabinskiy, we talk to each other every day”.
Hryunov has previously claimed that a revocation was just a way to wreck his co-promotion in Venezuela, where several Eastern European fighters took part in a local boxing event yesterday. He also viewed those ill-wishers behind (also unsuccessful) a plan to spoil his August event in Crimea
“I took part in the meeting, where his license was revoked. I have seen it myself”, commented Ryabinskiy. “I’m in contact with Vladimir Hryunov. We both know what it's all about. Everything is okay right now. On his comeback in Moscow, we shall sit down and discuss some issues. Regarding this revocation, I’m not one who makes the decision. The PBFR board does this. It’s better to direct those questions (regarding the revocation) to them”.
