Three Olympic Gold Medal winners who defected from Cuba, and now signed to Arena Box Promotion, Odalinier Solis, Yuriorkas Gamboa and Yan Barthelemy, will all turn pro at the Arena Gym in Hamburg on April 27. The three were to have to made their debuts in the United States in April ,but those plans have been scrapped and they will fight over there in May. Arena´s gym seats about 600 and tickets are expected to go fast.
EBU welterweight champ Jackson Osei Bonsu will now defend the title at home in Antwerp, Belgium, on June 9 against Italian Cristian De Martinis. It will be the first major show in Antwerp since the days of heavyweight Jean Pierre Coopman, who beat Jose Manuel Ibar Urtain there in 1977.
Evans Ashira writes on his homepage that he will fight for the Commonwealth title against perennial middleweight contender Howard Eastman on April 20 in Dudley, in the UK.
Finnish middleweight Kai Kauramaki will take on Belgian champ Djamel Bakhi on May 5 in Liege on EuroBoxe´s big promotion there.
