Living legend and Golden Boy executive, Bernard Hopkins, says WBC/WBA junior welterweight champion Danny Garcia must take his career to the next level.
Garcia last three performances have left a lot to be desired. He squeaked past Mauricio Herrera in early 2014, but it was a fight where some observers felt he should have lost. And then came back at a catch-weight to blow away highly overmatched opponent Rod Salka. Garcia returned last month in another catch-weight fight against Lamont Peterson, and it was another fight where some observers felt it should have went the other way.
Hopkins wants his fell Philadelphia fighter to step things up.
"Danny Garcia is in a division where there is not a few, but a whole bunch of talent waiting to fight him - especially when people think that in the last three fights he's shown no growth in his skills. I think [father/trainer] Angel Garcia will be more on his game now and Danny will make some adjustments," Hopkins told BoxingScene.com.
"But, in saying that, that doesnt mean that ther are some fights that I see as dangerous for him right now, based on where the momentum is going - and right now Danny has stayed at the high level that he's at and he has to go past that and break away from the pack to stand out as the superstar of that division."
