Sauerland Event are trying to get retired Danish heavyweight Brian Nielsen, 44, to come back and take on Evander Holyfield, 47. Nielsen, 65-2, retired six years ago worn after a long and hard career and had big problems with a knee that was the actual reason for the retirement. Nielsen tells Danish news agency Ritzau it´s a comeback that won´t happen until - if possible - he has his knee fixed. The comeback plans have made big headlines in Denmark where Nielsen for years was a superstar.
As for Holyfield, well, somehow it seems as if Sauerland forgot to tell him about the Nielsen fight but he tells Ekstrabladet he´s interested. As for money it´s claimed in media that Sauerland have offered Nielsen a million EUR. To this reporter Nielsen´s had his best days during the 90´s - he looked past his prime even when he fought Mike Tyson in 2001. As for Holyfield, well, compare with the Holyfield that beat Dwight Muhammad Quawi and the Evander we see today and draw your own conclusion.
