The San Antonio Express-News reports that the team of former heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield have held discussions with Alamodome director Mike Abington with respect to a staging a bout in the dome on November 10. Abrington was contacted by Holyfield's manager, George Hutson, and his promoter, Murad Muhammad, and he says they appear very serious.

"We've talked to them," Abington said. "It's still in the early stages, but I think they're serious about it. We should know something one way or the other" by next week."

Ronnie Shields, Holyfield's trainer, said that originally Holyfield was due to fight Sinan Samil Sam in Germany, but Sam priced himself out of the fight. The rumored opponent to face Holyfield at the dome appears to be contender Fres Oquendo.

Lou Duva, former trainer of Holyfield, told the paper that Holyfield's team had inquired about the availability of one of his fighters, San Antonio welterweight Oscar Diaz, for an undercard bout.
