BoxingScene.com’s Keith Idec reports in the Herald News that junior welterweight contender Kendall Holt (22-2, 12 KOs) will square off with tough veteran Ben Tackie (29-8-1, 17 Kos). Holt will take part in the keep busy fight on February 7 at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. The Versus network will televise. Holt plans to stay busy while trying to secure a rematch of his controversial loss to WBO 140-pound champ Ricardo Torres.

"I'm happy to be back in the ring and to put this Torres thing behind me," Holt, 26, said Sunday of his controversial loss to Torres in his first world title fight. "Ben Tackie is a solid guy, never been knocked out, done fought the best. He's hanging on, trying to keep his career alive. But it's out with the old, in with the new. I guess I'm the one who's going to have to show him that his career is over with."

In other news, there appears to be some minor discussion regarding a possible heavyweight bout between Jameel McCline and former champion John Ruiz. The fight is rumored to take place on the undercard to Oleg Maskaev’s WBC title defense against Samuel Peter on March 8 in Cancun, Mexico.
