Welterweight contender Rashad Holloway likes the selection of Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. as the chief sparring partner for Manny Pacquiao's upcoming training camp for the fight with Antonio Margarito on November 13.
Holloway, a regular in Pacquiao's camps and also trained by [Pacquiao's trainer] Freddie Roach at the Wild Card Gym, told Chris Robinson of The Examiner that he doesn't see Margarito doing anything in the ring that Chavez Jr. can't do. He thinks the styles and the physical dimensions are very similar. BoxingScene.com reported earlier that Roach, who trains Chavez, plans to use him as the chief sparring partner to prepare Pacquiao for Margarito.
“I think he would give him the best work as far as anyone with Margarito’s style,” Holloway claimed. “I don’t see Margarito doing anything that Chavez Jr. can’t do in the ring. Chavez Jr. can take a good shot. I sparred with him. He delivers a good left hook to the body and he is wide with his punches. He has a very similar style to Margarito. He has a very basic, Mexican style and he is long.”
