The Disptach reports that Nick Durandt, manager of IBO welterweight champion Isaac Hlatshwayo (27-1, 9KOs), is trying to pitch a possible fight against Matthew Hatton (31-3, 12KOs), the younger brother of Ricky, on the undercard of Floyd Mayweather Jr-Hatton on Dec. 8 in Las Vegas.
Hlatshwayo’s manager Nick Durandt held a meeting with Rodney Berman, head of Golden Gloves Promotion, to discuss a possible clash with Hatton.
“He always wants to fight in the same show as his brother and if he is willing Hlatshwayo will be ready for him,” said Durandt.
Durandt said that Ricky is expected to vacate the IBO junior welterweight title, and he would be happy to allow Hlatshwayo to drop down in weight to fight for the IBO 140-pound title.
“If we are guaranteed of a crack at the IBO junior-welterweight title we could vacate the welterweight version of the title and I should think Mathew would like to fight for the crown previously held by his brother so that the title could remain in the family. But I am afraid Hlatshwayo would not let that happen.”
