The Philippines Jhunriel Ramonal has lost by a split decision in a clash for the vacant Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation super bantamweight title to Japan's Hiromasa Ohashi in the Aioi Hall, in A ichi Japan.
Two of three judges had Ohashi the winner while the third judge, Filipino Delbert Peregrino scored the fight for the 21 year old Ramonal by a point 115-114. However, this was overcome by the scorecards of South Korean referee/judge Wan Soo Yuh, 117-111 and Japan's Yuji Fukuchi 115-113.
Ohashi was ranked No.1 in the OPBF 122 pound division while Ramonal was ranked No.2
It was Ohashi's second attempt to capture the OPBF title having lost by a twelve round unanimous decision to countryman Akifumi Shimoda on March 28, 2010.
Ohashi was coming off back to back, eight round unanimous decision victories over the Philippines Marjohn Yap last September 5 and Daisuke Ochi last November 26, 2010.
Ramonal was involved in a second round technical draw against Ariel Delgado last October 16 after winning the Philippine super bantamweight crown with an eleventh round technical decision over Sonny Gonzales on April 24, 2010.
