Last week Jamel Herring (21-2) took to social media to connect with his fans.

Like ever other boxer, Herring's career has been put on hold as the world tries to get past the covid-19 corona virus. He last fought in November when he won a unanimous decision over his mandatory challenger Lamont Roach.

Plans were in place for him to face former two-division champion Carl Frampton in a lucrative showdown in Northern Ireland but those plans have obviously been pushed to the side.

The 34-year-old New York native said that while he hasn't done much boxing training, he has kept himself in shape.

"I have been training here and there but I have mostly just been doing cardio work. All of the gyms are mainly closed. If I want to train I would just go fly out to Omaha where Bud is at because his gym is available. For the most part I have just been relaxing and enjoying time with the family during this quarantine thing," Herring stated.

Another fan asked Herring, who holds the WBO super featherweight title, if he planned to move back up to 135 pounds where he began and has campaigned for most of his career.

"Yeah I will move up to lightweight before it is all said and done. I will move up again. Trust and believe but right now I am just trying to handle business at 130. Whatever is available I am up for it. Bob (Arum) said that these international fights are on hold so I might need to take another tune up fight before the Frampton fight so we gotta go to the WBO and see what is available. I need to get back in the ring ASAP, crowd or with no crowd," said Herring.
