Mauricio Herrera has every reason to feel confident about beating Hank Lundy on Saturday night in Los Angeles.

The hard-luck junior welterweight contender from Riverside, California, is sure he has beaten better boxers than Lundy (25-4-1, 12 KOs), even if he wasn’t credited with winning fights against Danny Garcia (30-0, 17 KOs) and Jose Benavidez (23-0, 16 KOs) in 2014.

“In Philly, Lundy’s hometown, they know who I am,” Herrera (21-5, 7 KOs) said during the final press conference for Saturday’s card at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena. “They know that I beat Danny Garcia. They’re gonna know that I beat Lundy as well.

“Lundy’s going to find out he’s in there with a real monster. [Ruslan] Provodnikov couldn’t take me down, Danny Garcia couldn’t take me down, Benavidez couldn’t take me down. Lundy won’t take me down. I will win July 11th – mark my words. I’m gonna come out champion that night.”

The Herrera-Lundy bout, a 10-rounder for the NABF 140-pound title, will headline an HBO Latino telecast scheduled to start at 11 p.m. ET.
