Featherweight Ivan "Choco" Hernandez (27-4, 17KOs), ranked tenth in the world by the WBC, is returning to action on September 3 against Roberto Tamayo (11-6, 6KOs) at the Gimnasio Oscar “Tigre” García in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico. Hernandez is trying to get another title shot after being stopped by WBC super bantamweight champion Toshiaki Nishioka last October.
Hernandez has been jumping between super bantamweight and featherweight after the loss and won two fights in a row, by knockout, in March and May. He wants to have at least two more fights before the year is over and then chase another title opportunity in 2011.
