According to the word coming down in Mexico, hard punching flyweight Hernan "Tyson" Marquez (26-0, 19KOs) could be facing Jean Piero Perez (14-3, 10KOs) in some form of a title eliminator in his next fight. Two of Perez's defeats have been to Rafael Concepcion. Marquez's promoter Fernando Beltran is trying to get him in position for a title shot. Marquez stopped Darwin Zamora on Saturday night in six rounds.
"They are preparing a qualifying fight, perhaps next year against the Venezuelan fighter Jean Piero Perez. I spoke a lot with the Julio Cesar Chávez and with Jose Luis Castle. I want to thank them for the advice that they have gave me before and after the fight, but I do not want to forget about everything I have learned with [Fernando] Montiel," Marquez said.
