The purse bid for EBU heavyweight champ Alexander Dimitrenko´s mandatory defense against the Nordic Nightmare, Robert Helenius, has been postponed from October 31 to November 7.
Helenius co-headlines Sauerland´s big show on December 3rd at the Hartwall Arena in Helsinki, and one of the names being mentioned for the opponent's slot is Kevin Johnson. It will be a defense of Helenius´ WBA and WBO I/C titles.
As for Dimitrenko, there is reportedly a shoulder injury and the champ is said to need surgery to correct the problem.
A Dimitrenko vs Helenius matchup would effectively be a world title eliminator but it´s not likely that Dimitrenko, and his promoter Universum, would risk it all after all this time, so look for Helenius to fight the highest available challenger for the vacant EBU title some time in early 2012, with Dimitrenko concentrates on a world title shot.
