Former WBA “super” and IBO minimumweight champion Hekkie Budler is scheduled to return to action at Emperors Palace near Kempton Park on October 22 against Siyabongo Siyo from Duncan Village in the Eastern Cape.
In what was considered an upset Budler lost his WBA and IBO belts to the relatively unknown Nicaraguan Byron Rojas in March this year.
Rojas' reign did not last very long and he was unable to springboard on that momentum from the March win. He lost the WBA belt to Knockout CP Freshmart of Thailand on Wednesday.
Budler, 28, who has a record of 29-2; 9 faces Siyo 10-1; 4 in a comeback fight, who has just come off his first loss when he was outpointed by Siphiwe Khonco on June 11 in a clash for the vacant IBO minimuweight belt.
Siyo and Budler will meet over ten rounds at junior flyweight on the undercard of the final of the Golden Gloves Cruiserweight Four between South Africa’s Kevin Lerena and Micki Nielsen from Denmark.
