Hector Velazquez has promised to upset the plans of WBC lightweight champion Edwin Valero when they clash later today in Venezuela. Valero is already talking about his February 6 mandatory defense against Antonio DeMarco in Mexico, and discussing a possible slot of the Mayweather-Pacquiao undercard on March 13.

Velazquez says all of that is over. He promises to win by knockout before the very pro-Valero crowd. Valero is one of the biggest punchers in boxing. None of his 25 opponents have made it to the finish line. Most of them never made it to the second round.

"It will be a tough fight, with lots of adrenaline and blood. I saw videos of him because I like to study my opponents. I dedicate myself to training and do whatever my trainer tells me in the corner," Velazquez said.

"When opportunities happen to come your way, you have to seize them. After I win the fight and become champion, I'm going to make a few defenses and then retire."
