Eddie Hearn, promoter for WBO, WBA, IBF, IBO heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua, is fully focused on getting his fighter in the ring with newly crowned WBC champion Tyson Fury.
Fury captured the WBC crown last Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, when he stopped Deonay Wilder in the seventh round.
Dillian Whyte, who works with Hearn, is the WBC's interim-champion and mandatory challenger to Fury's world title.
At the moment, Fury is likely going to face Wilder in a trilogy fight. Wilder plans to exercise an immediate rematch clause, which would forced a third fight, and it has to happen by July.
Joshua has to make a mandatory defense against Kubrat Pulev, with that contest landing in June.
If both champions win - Hearn would push to match them in a year-end blockbuster unification.
Whyte, who wants to face the WBC champion sooner than later, would then be in line for the winner - if Fury-Joshua ever came together.
Fury has to make a mandatory defense against Whyte by February 2021.
"When you talk about the top four or top five, Dillian Whyte is on everybody’s list. He’s the WBC interim world heavyweight champion and one thing that’s been a little bit lost so far is he is now the mandatory challenger for Tyson Fury," Hearn told Sky Sports, according to Metro.
"Now [WBC president] Mauricio Sulaiman has made it very clear that that will happen in February 2021, so Dillian Whyte will be the mandatory challenger for the winner of Anthony Joshua against Tyson Fury if everything goes to plan."
Whyte is heading to a showdown with former world champion Alexander Povetkin, on a date in April or May.
