Promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sports says the problems between British welterweights Kell Brook (33-0, 22KOs) and Amir Khan (29-3, 19KOs) is no pre-fight act - they legitimately dislike each other.
"There is some serious beef between Kell Brook and Amir Khan," said Hearn to the The Morning View on Sky Sports HQ. "They cannot stand each other and I think that those rivalries are always something very special. It's a war of the roses, Lancashire against Yorkshire. Two very, very good fighters."
Last Saturday night at the SubHub in Carson, Hearn watched Brook capture the IBF welterweight crown from Shawn Porter.
Hearn is going to stage a voluntary defense for Brook on December 6th in Sheffield. After that he wants to match him against Khan.
"I think it's unlikely next. Kell is looking at December 6 at Sheffield Arena and Khan is also talking about fighting on the same night. This is an event that I feel has a real outdoor feel to it. I think it can be as big as Carl Froch-George Groves II, the recent event which was wonderful for British boxing. I think Brook against Khan, if built correctly for a world title, can do similar kind of numbers," Hearn said,
"It's a fight that Kell has craved for many years and now he's got the belt. There's no reason for Amir to avoid him anymore and hopefully we can begin talks and get that made for a huge event next summer."
