Eddie Hearn, who promotes former champions Amir Khan (32-3, 20 KOs) and Kell Brook (37-2, 26 KOs), is really eager to match the two longtime domestic rivals.
In the last few weeks, both boxers have seen action in the ring.
Khan, who plans to continue his path as a welterweight, blew away Phil Lo Greco in 39 seconds earlier this month.
Last month, Brook made his debut at the junior middleweight limit of 154-pounds, blitzed Sergey Rabchenko in two rounds.
Khan had signed a three fight deal with Hearn earlier this year.
Hearn plans to have both boxers return in separate bouts in the summer and then attempt to match the two of them at the end of the year.
“I keep thinking about the fight and how it might play out and that means it’s a great fight because I am mesmerised by it,” Hearn said to IFL TV.
“Now we’re all together, same promoter, same network, I think there is a better chance of the fight happening. I think they’ll both fight again this summer and then I think November or December is the time we’ll finally see that fight. I’ll sit down with both guys in the next couple of weeks.
“Both guys will probably fight in July and August, something like that, so they are all looking for the big fights from September or October onwards.”
One big issue in making that contest is weight.
Khan has already stated that he wants the contest to take place at the welterweight limit.
Hearn indicates that Brook is still capable of getting to welterweight - but cautions that it's risky to do so.
“I think it has to be this year and the one big stumbling point is the weight,” Hearn said.
“Amir will probably try and make Kell make 147-pounds which is possible but I think a slight disadvantage to Kell Brook.
“But as a fight, it’s probably the biggest out there for both of them.”
