Eddie Hearn, promoter for Anthony Joshua, is not convinced that unified champion Andy Ruiz is much slimmer and in better shape than he was the first time around.

Ruiz released some recent training footage - and Hearn disagreed with some of the claims that he was in "better shape."

Ruiz captured the WBO, WBA, IBF, IBO heavyweight titles back on June 1, when he dropped Joshua four times to secure a stoppage win in the seventh round at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

The rematch is scheduled for December 7th in Saudi Arabia.

Ruiz had recently stated that he's 10-pounds lighter and a better fighter than he was the first time around. He accepted that fight on late notice after Jarrell Miller was pulled after failing several drug tests.

Hearn felt Ruiz actually looked bigger in the recent footage.

"I thought he looked quite tubby," Hearn told iFLTV .

"I actually thought he looked heavier than he did previously. Make your own mind up. That clip that I saw, which was him training in San Diego, I didn't think that he looked slimmer than he did last camp.

"There was one picture of him leaning forward. The old 'lean forward', tucked back, with a little pout, can make you lose half a stone. Maybe he's done that."

Former unified champion Tyson Fury has been one observer who feels Ruiz could be making a big mistake by taking off weight in the lead-up to the rematch. He would prefer for Ruiz to keep his mass, due to the fear that losing the weight could result in a drop in punching power.

“There have been rumours he has lost weight," Tyson said.

“I don’t like that. If it’s not broken, don’t fix it. He did well at that weight, so he should stay at that weight."
