Last weekend at the Barclays Center, Errol Spence (20-0, 17KOs) created a tidal wave in the welterweight division after he demolished durable former champion Chris Algieri in five rounds.

Spence made easy work of Algieri, who in the last two years went the full distance with Amir Khan, Manny Pacquiao and Ruslan Provodnikov.

The unbeaten Spence is one fight away from becoming the mandatory challenger to IBF world champion Kell Brook (36-0, 25KOs), who captured the belt in August 2014 with a decision win over Shawn Porter.

Earlier this week, the sanctioning body ordered Spence to face another unbeaten contender, Konstantin Ponomarev, who is trained by Abel Sanchez. The winner will become the mandatory challenger under the IBF.

Brook's promoter, Eddie Hearn, has no issue with giving Spence a title shot right now. He says there is no reason to wait for a final eliminator but he doubts Spence's team is running to send their fighter to the UK. Hearn is ready to make that fight in the UK and even in the United States if the agreement makes sense for his fighter.

He's pretty confident that Brook would derail Spence.

"Another name that is on people's lips is Errol Spence, who looked sensational in beating Chris Algieri. Algieri looked war torn but no one has done that to him. Despite the calls for him to face Brook, no way would their team put him in that fight just yet. We would take that fight in the UK or the US and if they are serious, they have my number," Hearn said in Daily Mail.

"It is more likely they will fight a final IBF eliminator against Konstantin Ponomarev to become Kell's mandatory for later this year. With a 75-25 split for the champion, which is Kell, again, Kell is ready to fight - and beats them all."
