Eddie Hearn, promoter for former world champion Anthony Joshua, says there is no question that his boxer will move forward with a rematch against Andy Ruiz.

Last month, Joshua suffered a shocking defeat when he was dropped four times and stopped in the seventh round by Ruiz at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Hearn dismissed rumors that Joshua would take an interim fight before moving forward with Ruiz.

Joshua exercised an immediate rematch clause a few days following the loss.

"Do you think Joshua wants a warm-up? No," Hearn told BBC 5 Live Boxing.

"It's not even up for negotiation if he's taking that fight or not. That fight is happening. Someone just asked me 'do you think he should be taking this fight?' I said 'probably not'. In an ideal world probably you'd like a 10 rounder. If you're a favourite for a fight for the heavyweight titles, you're taking that fight. It is risky, dangerous, dramatic but it's the biggest fight in world boxing."

According to Hearn, the frontrunner venue is still Cardiff's Principality Stadium for the date of December 14. New York's Madison Square Garden is also under consideration, for the date of November 29.

Ruiz would rather have the fight take place in the United States or Mexico, but contractually Joshua holds the playing power with the location of the second fight.
