Promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sports is lining up a tough opponent for Kell Brook's first defense of the IBF welterweight title on December 6th in Sheffield.
Brook (33-0, 22KOs) captured the title two weeks ago with a twelve round majority decision over Shawn Porter at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.
Hearn has mentioned several names for Brook's first defense, including Robert Guerrero and Brandon Rios.
“A defense of the world title; that’s what he wants to do in front of the people of Sheffield. There are some big names in the mix. It will be a big fight, a legitimate test” said Hearn to the Sheffield Telegraph. “There are not going to be any easy nights for Kell. He’s in a division with so many opportunities, it leads towards the Amir Khan fight in Spring/Summer next year."
“But we have to have one eye on the likes of Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather and there are other champions in the division. Ultimately the aim is to unify.”
