Promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport is not convinced that Carl Froch (33-2, 24KOs) will fight again, but he's also not convinced that he won't.
Much of that talk all week has been a potential fight between Froch and WBA/IBO middleweight champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (33-0, 30KOs).
"Froch-Golovkin is huge. As a fight fan, I love that fight....[but] as Carl's friend...... But he likes that fight because he's sick in the head," Hearn told BoxingScene.com.
"I think if he's going to fight again he needs a challenge. It sort of lights the fire inside him and I think because the way people are talking about Golovkin - that's the kind of thing he'd do. How can you rule Carl out in that fight? You can't. He's got a granite chin, he's 168-pounds, he'd dwarf Golovkin - but Golovkin is exceptional and punches very hard."
And how confident is Hearn that Froch will return? And fight Golovkin if he does?
"50-50 on both counts. 50-50 he'll fight again. And if he does I think he'll fight Golovkin," Hearn said.
