Chris Eubank Jnr (22-1, 17KOs) has targeted a fight with Gennady Golovkin (35-0, 32KOs) after signing a new promotional agreement with Matchroom Sport.
The British middleweight champion is to make the first defence of his title against Wales' Tom Doran on the undercard of Anthony Joshua's IBF world heavyweight title against Dominic Breazeale on June 25. He thereafter wants to challenge one of the world's finest fighters.
The undefeated Golovkin, 34, is the WBA, IBF, IBO and WBC middleweight champion, after Saul Alvarez vacated the WBC title, and while he represents a significant step up for Eubank Jr, the 26-year-old and his father have long spoken of their belief he can be beaten.
Eubank Jr remained a free agent when defeating Nick Blackwell to win the British title in March, having left Matchroom after a short-term agreement, and promoter Eddie Hearn said: "My instructions from the Eubanks are clear: make the Golovkin fight.
"Many people talk about fighting him but not many would sign and bite your hand off to get it. Here we have a young fighter who will do it now.
"I want to get this message across: we are ready to commit to a deal (to fight)."
An agreement for the Golovkin-Alvarez fight appears far from close, which strengthens Eubank Jr's hopes. Billy Joe Saunders holds the WBO title, the only one out of Golovkin's reach, but Eubank Jr arguably has greater commercial appeal so could prove the more tempting opponent.
"It is one fight at a time but when you know you are working towards a super-fight it plays a role in your preparations," said Eubank Jr.
"It makes me train harder and focus more, knowing I am going another step towards a world stage fight with Golovkin.
"Anyone who has a belt, I am pursuing. I want to take them out in devastating fashion."
Eubank Sr, 49, whose strained relationship with Hearn contributed to the termination of his son's previous agreement with Matchroom, told the promoter:
"You've got to get Golovkin, then we may have a long-term deal.
"I don't think Golovkin will take the fight, but you must make that fight. I don't see how, by my mathematics, he can win."
