Eddie Hearn has outlined the dream fight he would like for Joshua Buatsi sooner rather than later.
The Matchroom Boxing boss sat at ringside as the Rio Olympic bronze medallist iced Andrejs Pokumeiko inside a round to win the vacant WBA International light-heavyweight title, exclusively live on Sky Sports Box Office.
And Hearn said, after watching the 25-year-old at the O2 Arena in London on Saturday, that a fight with a fellow undefeated 175-pound fighter.
The end, on the undercard of Dillian Whyte’s crunch heavyweight clash against former WBO world champion Joseph Parker, came at one minute and 56 seconds, with referee Victor Loughlin feeling that the visitor was in no position to continue.
"It was less than a round, there's hardly anything I can take from it,” Buatsi said afterwards.
Ilford’s Anthony Yarde is on a tear since turning professional under Frank Warren in May 2015, with 16 wins and all-but-one finishing early
With the win, Buatsi moves to 7-0 with six quick and his promoter Hearn has tipped him to go all the way to the top.
“If I could pick anyone for him to fight, it would be [WBO European and WBO Inter-Continental light-heavyweight champion] Anthony Yarde. All respect to Yarde, but I believe it would be easy work for our man and that he would beat him all day long and twice on a Sunday,” Hearn said afterwards. "We are watching the best prospect in world boxing and I believe he will be headlining at this venue at some point in the near future.”
Yarde is expected to return on September 15 at the same venue -- the O2 Arena -- as part of a show that will be staged by Warren which Boxing Scene understands could feature a mouthwatering super-lightweight dust-up between WBO Inter-Continental champion Jack Catterall and former Josh Taylor victim Ohara Davies.
