The Executive Vice President of HBO Sports, Peter Nelson, is very pleased with the way the 2015 calendar year has shaped up for the premium network.  Mega-fights like Floyd Mayweather-Manny Pacquiao that they co-distributed and Miguel Cotto-Canelo Alvarez finally came to fruition.

Fighters such as Gennady Golokvin, Terence Crawford and Sergey Kovalev who had become stars on the network in recent years, also further entrenched themselves as staples of the network.

With 2016 just around the corner, BoxingScene.com asked Nelson in early December who he believed would be the next breakout stars of the network.

"That is a great question.  Felix Verdejo just fought (on truTV). He had a tremendous performance in front of a raucous crowd.  Top Rank has done a phenomenal job with him. I think people have talked about a lot of different prospects who are coming up as well, as fighters who fit the mold of - say what Roman Gonzalez did for us, who is kind of a mature fighter but really hadn't yet taken the next step onto the network. We are really excited about those types of opportunities as we take a look into the new year," said Nelson.
