The New York Daily News has reported that HBO Sports has dumped Roy Jones Jr. as a boxing analyst. The axe came down on Wednesday as Ross Greenburg of HBO called Jones with the news. Jones was brought in on a full-time basis in 2004 to replace George Foreman. Emanuel Steward is going to fill in for Jones until a replacement is hired.
"Roy knew it wasn't working," Greenburg said. "He was not able to give us the commitment we needed as a broadcaster. He didn't give us the time, effort or preparation. Boxing is still in his system. He wants to fight."
