Former two division world champion David Haye is hoping Anthony Joshua will revert to his seek and destroy ways in the upcoming clash with Kubrat Pulev.
Joshua will make a mandatory defense of the IBF, IBO, WBA, WBO heavyweight titles against Pulev on June 20th in London. The contest will be the first for Joshua in the UK since the fall of 2018.
Back in June of 2019, Joshua was dropped four times and stopped by Andy Ruiz in the seventh round of a shootout.
The December rematch in Saudi Arabia was much different.
Joshua became a boxer and basically used movement and distance to oubox Ruiz over twelve rounds to reclaim his belts.
Haye would like to see an explosive knockout win by Joshua.
"He can outbox (Pulev) if he wants to, but I don’t think the world wants that. The world wants to see the world heavyweight champion do what Fury did. If Fury can do that to Wilder, Joshua should do something similar to Pulev. I don’t think he needs to box like that against Pulev, he can box how he usually boxes – dynamic, explosive. He can go out there and use his physicality, use his punch power," Haye said.
As far as the outcome, Haye could see Joshua ending Pulev in two to three rounds.
"I envisage two or three rounds at best, Joshua looking spectacular, looking like the old Joshua that everyone knows, loves and supported after that little hiccup," Haye said.
"He’s got his confidence now after that last fight... he proved it was an anomaly because the next time he fought him it was a whitewash. Pulev is a guy who is respected, he is a decent fighter, but he shouldn’t cause the WBO, WBA and IBF heavyweight champion of the world issues."
