As previously reportes, Tyson Fury will defend his WBA Super, IBO and WBO world heavyweight titles in a rematch with Wladimir Klitschko in Manchester on July 9.

An agreement is in place for the rematch between Tyson Fury and Wladimir Klitschko for the WBA and WBO heavyweight titles to take place in Manchester on July 9, according to the British fighter's trainer and uncle Peter Fury.

A rematch between the two has effectively been under negotiation since Fury unexpectedly outpointed Klitschko in Dusseldorf in November to win the WBA, WBO, IBO and IBF titles and become the first to defeat him in 11 years.

The 40-year-old Klitschko almost instantly activated the rematch clause that had been in the first fight's contract, which ultimately led to Fury being stripped of the IBF title through his inability to defend it against mandatory challenger Vyacheslav Glazkov.

Negotiations have been progressing slowly since then, with several venues in the UK and Germany reported to be under consideration.

Fury suffered a minor back injury last month, but believes the delay in an announcement is down to Klitschko's hope that he will gain weight if given time off..

Former two division world champion David Haye is questioning the validity of the announcement. He believes the announcement was made to take away some of the attention from Saturday's fight between Anthony Joshua and Charles Martin.

"I don't see that [a fight in Manchester] happening, someone in Klitschko's camp said it was happening in Germany literally a few days ago," Haye told Omnisport. "I wouldn't pay too much attention to that.

"Until it's officially announced I wouldn't start booking your tickets to Manchester just yet. Who knows [why Peter Fury made the announcement]? His comments have come on the same day as the press conference [for Joshua's fight], they had the weigh-in here.

"Maybe there's a lot of noise about Anthony Joshua and not so much about the Klitschko rematch and to try to keep the Tyson brand out there they make an announcement of some sort. It's an announcement of an announcement.

"You see it happen all the time, I understand it but at the moment this [Joshua-Martin] is the fight everyone is interested in."
