David Haye has dismissed concerns about his fitness for Saturday night’s clash with Tony Bellew.
Haye revealed he had been to Munich, but only for a routine physical with his doctor, and received confirmation he is fit to fight.
The heavyweight, 36, will meet Bellew at London’s O2 Arena and dismissed reports an Achilles injury could force him to withdraw.
He also insisted he has no intention of apologising for calling sections of the fans present at Monday’s press conference in Liverpool “f****** retards”.
After participating in a public workout in which he showed no sign of injury, Haye said: “I went to see my doctor as I do before each fight to get the once over.
“I see him at the beginning of training camp and at the end. I thought it was quite amusing I was getting calls saying, ‘Are you injured?’.
“Do I look injured to you? My Achilles are fine.”
Haye added: “I know exactly where it came from. Just like my dodgy shoulder, just like my bad back. You say a few things to people and they just filter out there.
“We heard about it all to be honest. The Tony Bellew camp need confidence. They need to feel they’ve got a foothold in this fight.
“He’s clinging on to me being a broken man, for his confidence.”
Asked what his doctor Hans-Wilhelm Muller-Wohlfahrt had told him about his condition, Haye said: “He said I’m tip-top, he said exactly what I thought he would say. He said I’m the healthiest he’s ever seen me.”
However he also implied Bellew - unusually given Haye’s reputation for succeeding with mind games - had managed to get under his skin.
Haye was uncharacteristically angry at Monday’s press conference, and said: “Tony Bellew has a knack for getting to people. Credit to him: most of the time I can laugh it off but he’s a professional annoying human being.”
