Ricky Hatton, the 27-year-old former junior welterweight and welterweight chamion, has recently published an autobiography called The Hitman: My Story by Ricky Hatton, which is on sale now.
Hatton holds nothing back in the book, including a tale of being drunken on the streets and mixing up mints with condoms. Hatton gave a detailed account of the story to The UK Sun's Oliver Harvey.
“I was having a few drinks three years ago, when I met this girl I had fancied for ages. We got on well and, at closing time, she asked me back to her’s," said Hatton. I was a bit tipsy and went in the loo to get some condoms. But there were three machines in there.
“Back at her place, it was all going smoothly until I rummaged in my pocket to get the condoms out — and discovered I had bought mints instead. Luckily, she said ‘No probs, there’s a 24-hour gym around the corner’. I couldn’t find my shoes so, in a rush, I put on her pink slippers. It was all I could find. I dashed out, ran up the road and bought the condoms. But then on the way back I was that gone I couldn’t find which house it was. They all looked the same."
“I was whistling up at the windows. I woke up a couple of grannies but not her. In the end, I walked up to the main road and hailed a minicab home. I woke up the next day thinking it was all a bad dream — until I saw the pink slippers on the end of the bed.”
Hatton returns in January, when he faces IBF 140-pound champion Juan Urango in Atlanta, Georgia. The bout will be broadcast live by HBO.
