Manchester legend Ricky Hatton, now a full fledged promoter, is one of the few common opponents of both Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao. He was stopped by Mayweather in ten rounds in 2007, which was Hatton's first career defeat. Two years later he was knocked out cold in two rounds by Pacquiao.
Back then, the biggest fight in the sport was Mayweather vs. Pacquiao. Nothing has changed over the years. Fans are still demanding the fight, but the two sides don't appear to be any closer to reaching an agreement.
"More whispers that it could be happening. It's a bit pathetic, personally, to be honest with you. You think they would just go, as far as the money goes, 50-50. But this one wants 51% and you get 49%....unbelievable. The reason that you go in to boxing is to become the best. I fought the pair of them and they won't fight each other. I'm thinking, from the whispers that I'm hearing, that it could happen, that they're making progress. If I wasn't a boxer, I would be a boxing fan and that's the biggest fight out there," Hatton told Talking Baws.
Hatton says both fighters are past their best, but he still picks Mayweather to beat the Filipino star.
