Former two division champion Ricky Hatton expects heavyweight rivals Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury to eventually collide in the ring.
There is a growing demand to see Joshua and Fury come together to create an undisputed heavyweight champion.
Fury captured the WBC title in February, when he dropped and stopped Deontay Wilder. Joshua reclaimed the IBF, WBA, WBO, IBO titles when he outboxed Andy Ruiz over twelve rounds in December.
Both Fury and Joshua are contracted for other fights at the moment.
Fury is going to face Wilder in a trilogy fight in the fall, while Joshua has to make a mandatory defense against Kubrat Pulev.
“I have been a fan of the game and a fan of British fighters past and the present. I remember years ago we would have two British lads competing for the title – but I had never heard of them. Now we have two of the best with different styles and different personalities," Hatton told Talk Sport.
“There’s no way it cannot happen.”
Joshua recently went public with a direct challenge to Fury, attempting to bait the "Gypsy King" to collide with him.
”Yes, come fight me. If you really want to say you’re No 1, come fight me. Let’s get it on. I’ve got the rest of the belts so it only makes sense," Joshua said.
“I’m the unified heavyweight champion of the world, he’s the WBC champion. What it will prove, me and him fighting? There will be one dominant figure in the heavyweight division that will have all of the belts and become undisputed. Logically to prove yourself as No.1, I have to fight Tyson Fury. He has to fight Anthony Joshua.”
