The on again and off again rumors of what WBA welterweight champion Ricky Hatton is going to do next are finally coming down to the wire. According to The Sunday Times, Hatton is likely going to vacate his WBA welterweight title, and move back down to 140 pounds in order to challenge Juan Urango for the IBF junior welterweight title.

It appears that Hatton grew frustrated when the WBA informed his promoter, Dennis Hobson, that he would be stripped of his title if he did not face mandatory challenger Oktay Urkal in his next bout.

The bout is rumored to take place in December, with Atlanta, Georgia as the possible location.

The move to 140 is seen as a strategic manuever because Hobson and Top Rank promoter Bob Arum have had several discussions to stage a bout between Hatton and former lightweight champion Jose Luis Castillo in April 2007.
