Richard Schaefer, CEO for Golden Boy Promotions, feels that Ricky Hatton brings more money to the table than Manny Pacquiao. Schaefer made the remarks when speaking about the controversy over Pacquiao's recent demand for a 60-40 split to fight Hatton on May 2 in Las Vegas.

On Wednesday, Pacquiao's promoter Bob Arum was able to convince his fighter to accept the original agreement of a 50-50 split. Arum let Pacquiao know that he was receiving a very good deal to fight Hatton, even better than the deal Floyd Mayweather Jr. received for his fight with Hatton in 2007. Pacquiao is receiving a cut of the television money that Hatton will bring in from the UK. In the fight with Mayweather, Hatton received all of TV and pay-per-view profits.

Because Hatton brings in so much money from UK television, Schaefer says if there had to be a 60-40 split, Hatton should be the fighter to get it. He says the TV money that Pacquiao will bring in from the Philippines will not come close to the money that Hatton will generate in the UK.

“I feel it really could be 60-40 in Hatton’s favor because of the huge revenue he generates in the UK. Frankly, he brings more from the UK than Pacquiao brings from the Philippines. A lot of people in the Philippines will watch the fight. It’s like China, though. You might have 50 million people watching but it will generate only $20,000. That number would be higher in the Philippines but it pales compared to what Hatton will generate in the UK,” Schaefer told Mike Rosenthal of The Ring .
