According to writer Dave Meltzer, former heavyweight champion Hasim Rahman is seriously being considered to replace Ken Shamrock on the pay-per-view undercard to Roy Jones Jr. vs. Omar Sheika on March 21.
Shamrock was scheduled to fight former WWE wrestler Bobby Lashley on the mixed martial arts portion of the show. That came to an end on Wednesday when it was announced by the California State Athletic Commission that Shamrock had tested positive for three anabolic steroids, 19-Norandrosterone, 19-Noretiocholanolone and stanozolol. He was suspended by the CSAC until Feb. 1, 2010.
Jones' promotional company, Square Ring, offered Lashley two replacement opponents for the show - former UFC champion Don Frye and Rahman. Lashley agreed to face either. According to Meltzer, Square Ring has Rahman as their first choice and they are currently trying to work out a deal.
A few weeks ago, Rahman expressed his desire to get involved in mixed martial arts. Lashley, 6'3 and nearly 265-pounds, made his MMA debut last December, winning the bout by TKO.
