Hammerin' Hank Lundy (22-1-1, 11KOs) appeared on the latest installment of The Boxing Lab, BoxingScene.com's official audio show to talk about his recent win over Dannie Williams. You can hear the interview in its entirety by clicking the following link:
The Philadelphia based fighter also spoke to us about his immediate future. Prior to the Williams fight, the plan was for him to return in July in a stay-busy fight as he angles for a shot at a title. Those plans changed when Jorge Linares was upset on Saturday night in his "tuneup" against Sergio Thompson, ruining a rematch against WBC lightweight champion Antonio DeMarco (27-2-1, 20KOs) that was penciled in for July 7th. Lundy feels that he deserves the title shot now that Linares is out and said that a fight against DeMarco would be his preference.
"The July fight is supposed to be for a minor belt but I want the fight with DeMarco. I am #1 now. If I can't fight him then I will take a tuneup fight and stay sharp. I will do what everbody else does and just stay busy," stated Lundy.
The brash fighter is known for never being at a loss for words. When discussing a potential future fight against Demarco, he went as far as to say that it would be an easy fight and also claimed that DeMarco has been avoiding him.
"DeMarco would be easy work. You haven't seen Hammerin' Hank at his best. We were supposed to fight in April. They had agreed to it and then they backed out. They don't want that fight," Lundy told The Boxing Lab.
