Cris Esqueda / Golden Boy Promotions Josh Kelly and Hamzah Sheeraz will feature on the Anthony Joshua-Kristian Prenga undercard at the Jeddah Superdome in Saudi Arabia on July 25.
As previously reported by BoxingScene, Kelly defends his IBF junior middleweight title against Ireland's Caoimhin Agyarko, 18-0 (7 KOs), while Sheeraz will put his WBO super middleweight strap on the line against Germany's Simon Zachenhuber, 29-1 (18 KOs).
Both Kelly, 18-1-1 (9 KOs), and Sheeraz, 23-0-1 (19 KOs), will be making the first defense of recently-won titles. Kelly surprised plenty when he outpointed Bakhram Murtazaliev to win his belt in January whereas Sheeraz, while claiming the vacant 168lbs title, did exactly as expected when crushing the overmatched Alem Begic in two rounds in May.
Whether Zachenhuber is a step up from Begic is debatable. The 28-year-old southpaw was outpointed by Pawel August over six rounds in April and his record lacks the kind of victory required to justify a world title shot. He is ranked seventh at 168lbs by the WBO but does not feature in the ratings of any other sanctioning bodies.
Agyarko, rated fourth at 154lbs by the IBF, can boast points victories over Ishmael Davis and Troy Williamson but will start as the underdog against Kelly.
Other fights of note include the aforementioned August taking on Jacob Bank over eight super middleweight rounds, Olympic champion Oleksandr Khyzhniak making his second professional start against Lenny Patrach at light heavyweight, and junior bantamweight prospect Mikie Tallon going in with Orlando Pino, also over eight rounds.
