COPENHAGEN, Denmark – Hometown cruiserweight Hamza Hussein outscored dangerous slugger Brandon Borg over eight rounds Saturday here at Scandic Hotel Sluseholmen.
Copenhagen’s own Hussein, now 10-0 (3 KOs), used his longer, southpaw reach and moved well to keep Borg at bay. At the end, officials scored it 79-73 (twice) and 80-72. BoxingScene had it 78-74 for Hussein.
Malta’s Borg, 13-2 (6 KOs), had his moments but couldn't keep it up, and Hussein boxed his way to a clear win in a good learning fight.
Bantamweight Sofie Rosshaug, 4-0 (1 KO), outscored Poland’s Kinga Stanizewska, 1-2, in a fast-paced four-rounder. It was scored 40-36 on all three cards.
Swedish super middleweight Ajet Jusufi, 2-0, outscored Bosnia’s Dardan Morina, 2-3 (1 KO), after a good fight. Scores were 40-36 on all cards Jusufi, a southpaw, had Morina under heavy pressure at times but could never hurt his opponent.
Bantamweight Anne Munk, 2-0, outscored Serbia’s Nevena Markovic, 0-14-1, in a fast-paced four-rounder. Denmark’s 40-year old Munk is a late starter who worked very hard to overwhelm her opponent. The fight was scored 40-36 (twice) and 40-35.
