British boxing legend Prince Naseem Hamed believes heavyweight contender Tyson Fury is without question the best fighter in his respective division.

Last December, Fury fought WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder to a controversial twelve round split draw. There were many pundits who saw Fury, despite going down twice in the fight, as the rightful winner.

The performance by Fury was a huge surprise to many, because it was only his third fight back after being inactive since November of 2015.

Fury is back in the ring on June 15, when he faces Tom Schwarz at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

And Wilder is back in action on May 18th, when he takes on mandatory challenger Dominic Breazeale.

Should both boxers win, there will be a heavy demand to see the two of them collide in a rematch.

The two sides would have to solve the big issue of their network affiliations, with Fury now tied to ESPN and Wilder working with Premier Boxing Champions, who have deals with Showtime and Fox Sports.

And if that rematch happens, Hamed is backing Fury to win in dominant fashion.

"For me Tyson Fury is at the forefront and he’s proved that he’s the best heavyweight alive today. I’ve got Tyson Fury beating any heavyweight alive today. That is it. When all the talks happened between the States and Eddie [Hearn], I didn’t see anybody stepping forward and saying, ‘We’ll fight him’ bar Tyson and Frank Warren," Hamed told IFL TV.

“You saw the fight, I saw the fight, the world saw it - everybody knows who won it. It’s clear cut, Tyson is the best heavyweight alive today. I like him, I like the way he is, his character, he’s good for the sport.

“I’ve always thought that one day he’s going to have to prove himself. You know what, he proved himself 10 times over in one fight. If he has a rematch, he’ll win even easier.”
