It was announced today by Hall of Fame Promotions president Donna Brooks and Henry Cortes, president of Cortes Sports and Entertainment that they are co-promoting what they hope will be a regular series of boxing shows in Paterson, New Jersey. After a long absence, boxing will return to JFK High School (corner of Preakness and Totowa Road) on Friday, August 25th which will feature many local boxing stars and young prospects. Said Athletic Commissioner Larry Hazzard, “it’s always a great night of boxing and entertainment when we come back to Paterson, NJ”.
“Boxing has taken me all over the world, but it’s always great to put on a show for the fans that support their local favorites,” said Hall of Fame president, Brooks. Added Henry Cortes, “we have a few special treats for the fans who come out to see this tremendous show !”
Boxing Hall of Fame legend, Lou Duva stated, “I’m really happy that my daughter Donna and my good friend Henry Cortes got together to showcase their respective local prospects. I’m sure the fans will enjoy and holler loudly for their future boxing stars, and I’ll be the loudest. Be there for a great night to see all action fights, celebrities and especially don’t forget to get my autograph – FREE !”
Featured in 3 eight round bouts will be Paterson Jr. Middleweight brawler, Archak Termeiksetian, 15-4 . along with Cruiserweight Shaun George, formerly of Brooklyn, now campaigning out of Wayne,NJ, 11-1 featured in the remaining 8 rounder Paterson Jr. Lightweight standout Agnaldo Nunes, 16-1 will make his local debut.
Showcasing their young talent on the the undercard are Jr. Welterweight sensation Michael Torres, 7-0 of Jersey City and amateur stand-out from Philadelphia, Tiger Allen, 2-0. In what promises to be an all out war, lightweight Carlos Macias of Brooklyn will square off against Jersey City’s Nicky DeMarco in a 4 round bout when they both make their professional debut. In a special attration, 9 year old amateur sensation Julian Rodrigues will showcase his outstanding skills in an exhibition bout.
