Fresh off a KO 1, Guillermo Rigondeaux is looking for a bigger and better fight to close out 2014.
The two-time Olympic gold medalist is looking for someone to co-promote him along with Caribe Promotions now that his deal with Top Rank has expired. In the meantime, Team Rigondeaux is calling for a unification fight with fellow beltholders Kiko Martinez and Leo Santa Cruz.
"We hope to get a fight against Kiko Martinez or Leo Santa Cruz before the end of the year," Rigondeaux's manager Gary Hyde told BoxingScene.com. " Rigo will welcome any challenge from ranked fighters but not until he secures a promotional deal. We have a number of inquiries from various promoters and there could be an announcement early next week."
Rigondeaux is the lineal junior featerweight champion, but he stills want to become the undisputed champ. A fight with Santa Cruz in particular would be fascinating, and would likely make for a good action fight.
The WBO recently ordered Rigondeaux (14-0, 9KOs) to make a mandatory defense against Chris Avalos (24-2, 18KOs). Caribe has already reached out to
