The cruiserweight champion (200 pounds) of the World Boxing Association (WBA), Guillermo "El Felino" Jones (38-3-2, 30KOs), will start training in Panama for what may be a potential title defense against interim-champion Denis Lebedev (23-1, 17KOs) of Panama. Jones' promoter Don King and Lebedev's team have been discussing a possible fight. Jones has only fought twice since 2008 and wants to make sure his body and skills stay sharp if a deal to face Lebedev gets finalized.
"Tomorrow we are going to start training to stay in rhythm, and we are also negotiating to fight against the interim-champion Denis Lebedev of Russia," said Jones.
