WBA president Gilberto Mendoza reports that cruiserweight champion Guillermo "Felino" Jones (36-3, 28KOs) of Panama is about to be stripped of his crown. He won the WBA title with a knockout of Firat Arslan in September 2008. All sorts of issues outside of the ring and fight postponements have caused Jones too sit out for nearly two years, but the title is being held hostage around his waist. The WBA will hold a meeting to decide his fate. It seems they have finally had enough.
"We've been flexible with Jones, and it's a pity, but the time has come to make a decision and we can not wait any longer," said Mendoza.
