WBA/WBO interim lightweight champ Robert Guerrero completed successful arthroscopic surgery on the rotator cuff of his left shoulder yesterday in Redwood City, Calif., under the knife of the very capable Dr. Michael Dillingham.
“Surgery went well yesterday,” Guerrero said via Twitter. “[Doctor] said he's optimistic about me getting back to 100 percent. Rehab will start in a couple of weeks.”
“Yesterday he had his surgery, and they repaired the damage to his rotator cuff,” his publicist, Mario Serrano, added. “Robert’s got to keep his arm in a sling, and then he’ll get started with rehab in a couple weeks with Michael Dillingham’s assistant, Lisa. We’ll be meeting with her in Redwood City when he goes back in there next week.”
Regarding possibly reconstructing a fight with Marcos Maidana when Guerrero returns in four to six months, Serrano revealed that manager Bob Santos would be speaking with Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer this afternoon to discuss the fighter’s options.
