Former champion Robert Guerrero is predicting a close upset loss for Amir Khan (26-1, 18KOs) later tonight. The British superstar will defend his WBA/IBF junior welterweight titles against mandatory contender Lamont Peterson (29-1-1, 15KOs) at the Convention Center in Washington, DC. Guerrero, who wants to challenge Khan in early 2012, expects him to stay on his feet, jumping in with quick punches and then jumping out.
Guerrero doesn't expect a knockout for either boxer, but he does expect Peterson to make it very close with a late rally to close the gap in the championships, and the judges will give the hometown boxer a narrow win on the cards.
"I think Peterson will give a good account of himself and give Khan all he can handle. Khan will jump in and land his slapping combinations and then get on his bike and run, winning the early rounds. Peterson will come on strong in the later rounds and win a split decision," Guerrero said.
