Robert Guerrero has taken an orthodox approach to his boxing training for Yoshihiro Kamegai: CrossFit.
CrossFit is a strength and conditioning program that contains elements of Olympic weight lifting, high-intensity interval training and plyometrics, among other exercises.
CrossFit has touted "The Ghost" as the company's first sponsored boxer. He says he's seeing big-time results after not doing any weightlifting for many past camps under trainer/manager Bob Santos.
"When you train and train and train, you tend to become one dimensional and fall into bad habits," Guerrero said on a media conference call Tuesday. "I had to switch it up. ... I've teamed up with CrossFit for this camp and have really improved. My endurance is through the roof."
Guerrero fights Kamegai on Saturday at the StubHub Center on Showtime.
